Toothbrushing
A 9-step toothbrushing chain (task analysis)
Nine steps from “Grab toothbrush” to “Put away toothbrush and toothpaste,” with a reward after each step. Arcade is a checklist with ticket prizes and video models. Roomba sends a robot vacuum to clean after each step.
When
- Teaching or maintaining a self-care routine with forward, backward, or total-task chaining.
- Learners who benefit from a visual checklist and a reward after every step.
- Use Roomba for learners who love watching the vacuum, or when Arcade stops motivating.
Why
- Each step has its own video model to show exactly what to do.
- An immediate reward after each step, plus a big finish, keeps the chain moving.
- Step-level data shows which link in the chain breaks down.
How
- On the setup screen, choose Arcade or Roomba, then tap Play. To switch, go back to All tools and open Toothbrushing again.
- Arcade: tap a step when it’s done to win a ticket. ▶ View Video Model plays that step. Tap a step again to uncheck it. Reset Game starts over.
- Roomba: the screen shows one step at a time. When it’s done, tap the dirty spot or the big button to send the Roomba. Start over resets. 🔊 turns sound on and off.
- Brushing steps 4–6 include a count-to-10 note for the adult.
Saved to the dashboard: Each step as it’s completed. The dashboard shows steps per session, full routines, typical time, and how often each step was completed.
