Count & Compare
Early math: numerals 1–5, counting, matching numbers to amounts, more and less, and size
A recorded question such as “Find number three”, “How many?”, “Which one has four?”, or “Which one is long?” The learner taps the answer from 2 or 3 cards.
When
- Teaching or probing numerals 1–5 as a listener skill.
- Counting with one-to-one correspondence: the learner can touch each item to hear it counted before answering.
- Early comparison words: more and less, big and small, long and short.
Why
- Recorded voice asks each question the same way every trial.
- Sets use familiar card photos in dice-like patterns, and more/less pairs differ by at least 2 at first.
- A wrong tap highlights the right card and asks again, as a prompt that isn’t scored as correct.
- Naming numerals is left out: it’s a spoken response, and easier to score in person.
How
- On the setup screen, pick a level: Find numbers, How many?, Match amounts, More or less, or Big and long. Then tap Play.
- The first question plays right away. Tap the speaker button to repeat it. The question is also written below it for you.
- In How many?, the learner can tap each picture in the row to hear it counted. Counting taps aren’t scored; only the number they choose is.
- Use Skip, Log, Hold to reset, and End the same way as in Find It. Rounds are 10 questions.
Saved to the dashboard: The first tap on every trial, plus skips. Each question is its own target (for example “Find 3” or “How many? (4)”), and the most common errors show the number or side chosen instead. Changing the level starts a new phase on the graph.
