# Token Board

A token economy: a themed token board or a gem jar, with a picture menu of how to earn

A token board the learner fills toward a reward they choose, or a jar of 3D gems that adds up across sessions, days, and devices. A picture menu shows how to earn (for example, Brush teeth gives 2), and the BT gives tokens by holding a line.

## When

- Reinforcing taught behaviors, routines, and chores with a visible, consistent exchange.
- Learners who need to see what they’re working for and how close they are.
- Use the gem jar when earning should carry over between sessions, places, or people.

## Why

- The menu and rewards are pictures, so the learner doesn’t need to read.
- The learner can see and pick what they’re working for, and change their mind, but can’t change the menu.
- Giving tokens needs a half-second hold, so a quick tap by the learner doesn’t count.
- Every token is saved with the behavior that earned it, and every trade with what was chosen.

## How

1. On the setup screen, choose **Token board** or **Gem jar**. For a board, pick how many tokens fill it, a theme (**Plain color**, **Polka dots**, **Farm**, **Space**, or **Ocean**), a color, and a token.
2. Under **How to earn**, add up to 8 behaviors and set how many tokens or gems each gives. Under **Trade for**, add up to 6 rewards; in the gem jar, the number is the price. Then tap **Play**.
3. When the learner does a behavior on the menu, **press and hold** its line until the fill sweeps across. **Something else** gives 1 for a behavior that isn’t on the menu.
4. On a board, the learner taps **I’m working for** to choose a reward. When the board is full, tap **Trade in** (or **Not yet**). In the jar, the learner taps a reward to work for it, and **Trade** appears when there are enough gems.
5. Use **Back** to take back a token or trade given by mistake, and **Hold to empty** to start the board or jar over.

**Saved to the dashboard:** Every token or gem given, with the behavior that earned it and how many, and every trade with the reward chosen. The jar’s balance is kept for the learner on every device. Each session shows what each behavior earned, and the graph shows tokens or gems given per session.
