Tips for the RBT / BCBA
Scoring: only the learner’s first touch on each trial is recorded. After an error the app says “Try again,” repeats the sentence, and waits — the trial moves on once the learner touches the correct picture, but stays scored as incorrect.
Stimuli: both pictures always show the same activity, so the only difference is the pronoun. Picture rule: we = drawn from the learner’s own view, so the learner’s hands are in the picture, doing the activity with one partner (a grown-up or a friend) who faces them; they = three kids far away, turned toward one another and doing the activity together.
Phase 2: mix He is… and She is… prompts and single-child pictures into we/they practice. All four pronouns can be correct answers or picture distractors.
Randomization: target pronouns are balanced across each block. Pronoun, activity, and left/right position are randomized, with no more than two of the same pronoun or side in a row and no activity repeated immediately.
Data: correct/incorrect by pronoun appears after every block. Tap ✕ during a block to end early and see data for the answered trials.
iPad: turn on Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility) to keep your learner in the app. The speaker button repeats the sentence any time.
